He Korowai Mātauranga
He Korowai Mātauranga is a body of work that provides Waipapa Taumata Rau, The University of Auckland, researchers and research support staff with resources and tools to build knowledge in the area of Vision Mātauranga. He Korowai Mātauranga will enable the interweaving of two knowledge systems – Mātauranga Māori and Western Science.
He Korowai Mātauranga translates to “the cloak of knowledge”. Traditionally, korowai are woven from harakeke, worked into muka (strands) and adorned with hukahuka (tassels) and huruhuru (feathers). Using the imagery of the interconnected muka we have broken down the approach to Vision Mātauranga into four muka:
- What is Vision Mātauranga?
- Why do we have Vision Mātauranga and what is its relevance in a research context?
- How can Vision Mātauranga be understood and applied to research?
- Who do I engage with to get more advice about Vision Mātauranga?
He Korowai Mātauranga will grow in content as we build resources and tools to support the needs of researchers and Māori.
